The company was originally formed in 1943 by Bill Cashdollar and Dorman Dorsey at the foot of West Adams Street in Jacksonville, Florida as Dixie Galvanizing Company. The name was changed to Dixie Galvanizing and Tank Company when the operation expanded to 1901 McQuade Street. After the founding owners died, the company was operated in trust by the Barnett Bank until it was sold to the Jackson Water Heater Company in 1974. The company was then sold to Metalplate Galvanizing, Inc. of Birmingham, Alabama in July of 1980. By January of 1987, Metalplate Galvanizing had decided to divest itself of all manufacturing operations and sold the tank division to Mr. Chris Eidson. After the purchase, Dixie Tank Company initiated a program to expanded its tank production capabilities, and implement a quality control program to become certified to produce ASME authorized pressure vessels. The quality control program was reviewed in February of 1989, and Dixie Tank was awarded a certificate of authorization to produce pressure vessels under the "U" symbol for unfired pressure vessels. The company expanded its shop capabilities with the move to its present location at 5349 Highway Avenue.
